Time To Big Me Up is being published as a series of episodes. Or maybe because it is first being published online, it is an eSeries of eEpisodes … no, maybe not.
The first reason is that we can. One of the main features of the evolution of IT, or Information Technology, is that we can get information quick.
Through ePublication an episode can be published almost as soon as it is written. The tools that are available mean that I do not have to go through the effort of finding a publisher; submitting a synopsis; writing the whole volume; having it edited; getting it printed; distributing it through retailers.
I am able to write and publish as I wish. I will be getting feedback as I progress the series, which may lead me to make suitable amendments before publishing future episodes.
My aim is for each episode of TTBMU to be about a half hour read. This means they can be finished in one sitting, for example when eating lunch.
Additionally each episode can be read stand alone. They will be published in a chronolgical order and will be a complete story of my journey. However, they do not need to be read in order and episodes can be missed.
This means the reader can enjoy as much or as little of TTBMU as they wish. They do not have to purchase the whole volume. Having been an avid reader all of my life, I have never liked deciding after only a few chapters, that the book is not for me.
With TTBMU the reader can read one episode and then decide on whether to read more. If they do not wish to read more, they save money and time.
This will also give me valuable feedback. If readership reduces after an episode, I have direct notification that amendments and improvements need to be made. I will also be using social media to get guidance to the wishes of the readers.
Finally, one of the main reasons for publishing TTBMU as episodes, is that the feedback from the first episode may indicate that it is a project I should finish sooner rather than later. Having been a salesman for over three decades, I understand the occasional need to “qualify-out”.
In my case this is not just about saving time and money. It is also emotional. You see, one of the major things I left behind on the A46 highway in 1987 is a lot of confidence. I will (hopefully) explain more in TTBMU.
